Aliou Babou, 48, owns a cashew business in Dassimale Soce village, Wassa-Cajou, Senegal. He has received training from the Rural Micro-Enterprises Project (PROMER) to run his business. He owns 8 hectares of land with 250 trees per hectare, with 22 women and 4 men working for him. Production average is around 32 tons of cashews each year. At the moment Aliou still dries the nuts for two days and then puts them in bags, but hes thinking about introducing new technology. |
