Media tour led by US Ambassador before the UN agencies based in Rome Cindy McCain visited the irrigation project in Belén municipality, Lempira department, Honduras in July 2022. A modern 50km Irrigation System has been built through a Technical Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock –using funds of the IFAD-funded PROLENCA project-, the Municipality of Belén, the Department of Lempira, World Vision Honduras and USAID. The irrigation project benefits 150 families directly and 900 indirectly in the communities of La Puerta, El Carrizal and La Cañada. The investment amounts to 6.3 million lempiras (around US$ 260.000). The Irrigation System has a total extension of 50 kilometers, distributed in 15 kilometers of conduction line and 35 kilometers of distribution line. |
