India - Andhra Pradesh Participatory Tribal Development Project - May 2002
Description:
The savanna of the Utnoor development area receives around 700 mm of rain a year, most falling during the south-west monsoon between June and September. Due to heavy deforestation, this area risks desertification. Participants and project workers have implemented measures to curb this tendency, slowing water flow and ensuring water supplies by constructing contour trenches and rock dams.
