Rome, 15 March 2024 – After several months of collaboration, IFAD and WFP launched their new Action Plan on working together in fragile contexts. The Action Plan with WFP includes working closely on analysing drivers of fragility, boosting climate resilience, connecting smallholder farmers to food assistance supply chains, and collaborating on logistics. The partnership is not exclusive but rather meant to complement the agencies’ respective work with governments, FAO and other UN entities, other IFIs and bilateral donors, and rural communities and producers’ organizations. Alvaro Lario, President of IFAD, and Cindy McCain, Executive Director of WFP, gave statements during the event, which was moderated by Dina Saleh, Regional Director, Near East, North Africa and Europe Division (NEN) IFAD, and featured Katherine Meighan, Associate Vice-President and General Counsel, LEG, and Associate Vice-President, ERG a.i., IFAD, and Stanlake Samkange, WFP Assistant Executive Director a.i. and Director for Multilateral and Programme Country Partnerships. |
