The Giteru Tuinuane Self Help Group was formed in 2016 when KCEP initiated its activities in Nakuru County in the Western Region. The Group had initial membership of 25 but currently there are 24 active members (five men, 18 women and 1 female youth). The SHG was formed with the purpose to ease farmer mobilization, training, collective marketing of produce and farmer follow-up. The Giteru Tuinuane SHG is among the 822 KCEP-CRAL e-voucher farmers groups formed in the Western Region. They SHG learnt of KCEP-CRAL support in October 2015 as a result of wide public awareness and sensitization especially through Chief's Barazas (open but targeted public gathering/forum), Posters dissemination and social announcements in churches, etc. This was coupled with the Program’s community sensitization and pre-selection of beneficiaries. |
