Portrait of a semi-nomadic shepherdess of Brokpa ethnicity who lives at more than 3800 m above sea level. Their principal subsistance activity is raising yaks. Once a year the Brokpa descend the hills as far as Tashigang to sell yak cheese that has been fermenting for two to three years. The Brokpa commonly wear a hat made of yak hide.
