The hilly, mountainous regions of Albania are among the poorest communities in the country. The Small-scale Irrigation Rehabilitation Project aims to improve drainage systems and irrigation infrastructure in order to promote medium and long term poverty reduction in the region. The project's focus also centers on assisting rural farming households as a means of reducing dependence upon food aid.
