|Title:||Bangladesh - Aquaculture Development Project - October 2002|
Village residents celebrate the end of Durga Puja, a Hindu festival in Krishnu Chandrapur, Bangladesh.
Carvings of deities are lowered into a lake to mark the end of Durga Puja, the most important Hindu festival.
The Aquaculture Development Project aims to improve the livelihoods of rural communities through poverty alleviation and increased food security. Access to bodies of water is the primary focus of the project which enables landless households to directly benefit from working and managing waterways independently.
