Maria Antonia Cordoba Leonor, 29, feeds livestock in San Lorenzo, El Salvador. Maria Antonia Cordoba Leonor used to work in the city, but she has returned to the countryside to help her mother run the animal farm. Following the earthquakes of 2001, the rural infrastructure in several areas was damaged and further threatened by landslides. The Rural Reconstruction and Modernization Programme (PREMODER) works with rural communities in order to rebuild roads, bridges, and schools in the areas most affected by the earthquakes in addition to providing technical and financial support to small enterprises. San Lorenzo is located in the San Vicente state in El Salvador. |
