A man walks up a steep road which is used to transport wood from forested areas to processing centres in Kossoye, Ethiopia. Due to the scarcity of land people are forced to go up the mountain and cultivate plots of land which are unsuitable for optimal agricultural production. The Community-based Integrated Natural Resources Management Project aims to enhance the access of poor rural people to natural resources such as land and water, and to improve upon technologies used for agricultural production. It also aims to establish and strengthen community-based organizations and develop employment opportunities outside agriculture with the aim of relieving pressure on marginal lands. The Lake Tana Watershed project area is located in the Amhara region, project area Megech, Ethiopia. |
