Title: Malawi - Sustainable Agricultural Production Programme (SAAP) June 20162016
Description: Matoe village_Linle Jamosi poses for a portrait.

My name is Linle Jamosi, I’m married and I have 4 children.
I’m a farmer, I grow maize, tomatoes and onions and I keep the goats that the SAAP project gave me.
We usually sell my products to middlemen but this year because of the drought we didn’t harvest so much and what we get is barely enough to feed our family.
I’m part of the Tangondwela nutrition group that was founded 3 years ago, we teach each other different ways of cooking and adding value to the food. The extension worker teaches us how to prepare food in order to have all the nutrients in our diet.
My life change a lot, before I was eating just Nsima ( traditional food prepared with maize flour) and I didn’t know how to prepare different kind of food with sweet potatoes and avocado or to prepare juices with fruit and sweet potatoes leaves.
I could see as the farmers who were applying conservation agriculture techniques manage to harvest something, despite the drought, at least to feed their family, but those who weren’t didn’t harvest at all.
My main challenge is the climate change, if the situation continues like this we will need to irrigate our fields.
For the future I hope my children can go to school. This year was really hard as we didn’t manage to sell any crops, I hope next year the weather changes and we can harvest more, sell our crops and get enough money for what we need.
I hope the project can continue and we can learn more so our life can be better.
