Title: Malawi - IFAD Country Programme - June 2016
Description: Kanyama EPA_ Velem Gyzula speaks during a meeting of raders and delegates of farmers cooperatives producing potatoes to fix terms of agreement and prices for the distribution of their products.

They explain:

"My name is James Ingiany, I’m 32.
I’m a trader, I sell potatoes in different markets in Lilongwe and Dedza districts.
These meetings with cooperatives are really important to us, as we can find the product in a simple way and at a fixed price we negotiate in this meeting."

"My name is Velem Gyzula, I’m 42.
I grow potatoes and I’m the chairman of the Kanyama cooperative, we are 115 members and do collective marketing.
Being in a cooperative means we have one vision, the same goal, we are able to set the price of our products.
Now we are selling potatoes at 250 Kwacha per kilo, farmers who are selling it outside the cooperative manage to get no more than 150.
I’ve made a lot of money, I bought a motorbike, livestock and a mill to process mais.
In the future I hope to buy a car."
