Juliet Ngozi Ebuo 31, is a rice farmer on a ten hectares land and belongs the Divine destiny multipurpose cooperative in Ayamelum, Anambra state. Before joining the cooperative farming was tedious for Juliet but since the joining the cooperative farming have been easier experience because of support Divine destiny cooperative have been receiving from the IFAD’s value chain development programe. They have been assisted with the supply of tractors; rice pilling machines, improved rice seeds varieties, and introduction of the dry season farming system. They also enjoy a 50% IFAD subsidy on fertilizers, herbicides and borehole for irrigation. These IFAD interventions have seen rice production of Divine destiny rise from 2.5 tones to 5.5tones per planting harvest season. This has resulted to more incomes for Juliet and she has been able to diversify her improved earnings into selling cosmetics, rice, and fertilizer.Lack of accessible road in hilly topography of Ayamelum farms has made posied a big challenged for them in transporting their produce out and hope there could be support in this direction.Juliet plans to expand her farm and mobilize more farmers to join her cooperative so that more people in her community can be part of the IFAD benefits.She is grateful to IFAD because the value chain development program has brought tremendous positive impacts in her life and members of her cooperative.
