The Al Khersha family sits and talks outside their home in Majra Village, Jordan. From left: grandfather Jamil Al Khersha, 65, Ferga Al Khersha, 40, niece Gofran Al Khersha, 4, daughter Aya Qatwneh, 12 and husband Hammed Qatwneh, 50. Ferga Al Khersha lives in Majra village, Jordan, with her husband, father and 6 children. IFAD began to help their family in 1998. Since then they have planted olive trees and erected a stone wall and built a cistern. Before that the land was sloped and unable to produce produce. Ferga waters her olive trees with the water from the cistern. She works in the field everyday and her children help her. From this past olive season, they made 250 JD from the olive oil she has made. |
