Title: India - Convergence of Agricultural Interventions in Maharashtra’s Distressed Districts Project (CAIM) – August 2014
Description: A group of farmers run a small “dal mill” to clean lentils and other pulses in Bhatkuli, Maharashtra, India. This is a labor saving device as traditionally women spend many hours a day sifting lentils by hand.

The farmers also practice new farming techniques such as applying the broad bed and furrow planting technique (BBF) to their fields and developing household poultry raising activities for women.

BBF increases water use efficiency, crop productivity, requires less seeds and makes it easier to manage weeds.
