Recurrent periods of drought and famine coupled with lack of access to safe drinking water, hygiene and health services have lead to a Malagasy life expectancy of 55 years with 84 out of every 1,000 children dying before the age of 5. The Upper Mandraré Basin Development Project (PHBM) works with rural communities in order to improve upon living conditions, particularly among marginalized segments of the population such as landless farmers, women, and young people. Tsivory Village is located in Amboasary District, Tsivory Council, Madagascar. |
