Ethiopia - Pastoral Community Development Project (PCDP III) - Sept 2017
Description:
Danberweyne (Danan Woreda), Somali region, Ethiopia. The Pastoral Community Development Project (PCDP III) is one of Ethiopia’s largest programmes which has been implemented in the country’s pastoral areas in three phases over the last 15 years. It improves access to social and economic services for pastoralists and agro-pastoralists in 107 woredas in four regions, and is expected to directly benefit 560,000 rural households. Project activities are driven by community demand and community-based investments, providing access to water and social infrastructure to increase incomes, improve health and nutrition and build resilience to drought and other external shocks. The project also supports rural livelihoods through access to financial services, promotion of Savings and Credit Cooperatives and rangeland management.
