Title: Peru - Management of Natural Resources in the Southern Highlands Project (MARENASS) - October 2006
Description: Women from the Andarapa community organize food for a "minka", a common tradition in Peru. When someone from the community needs to build a house, neighbors and relatives join in to work together. The owner of the house provides food and liquor for everyone.

Flora Guzmán, is having a new adobe brick house constructed with the help of her neighbors. Several dozen men are working on the construction, and a dozen women are helping with food preparation. A minka is a joyous event in which people work, eat, dance and strengthen their bonds with their family and neighbors.
