Colombia - Indigenous Peoples Assistance Facility grant - Dec 2018
Description:
Rosio Gualy (left) and her sister, Maria Deisy Gualy, in the village of La Palmita. Like many Pijao women, Rosio moved away and took work as a maid - but she returned when she fell in love with a man from her hometown. Maria stayed in their village to help their father with his cows. Now the sisters also help run a mango orchard that was established with help from Asociación para el Futuro con manos de Mujer (ASFUMUJER) . The Indigenous Peoples Assistance Facility (IPAF) has awarded a grant to the Climate change adaptation and food security for indigenous communities in Natagaima Tolima project (RENACER), which works with the Pijao-Natagaima indigenous peoples group.
