Thomas Kimaro, 47, a member of the Association of the Tomatoes Growers of Modio village in Hai District, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, works on the farm. Thomas and other members of the group have been trained in tomato farming, record keeping and leadership by FAIDA MALI one of the implementers of Agricultural Marketing Systems Development Programme (AMSDP) component of Producer Empowerment and Market linkage in the country. The First Mile Project is supported by the Government of Switzerland and is implemented in collaboration with the AMSDP of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. IFAD endeavours to establish and develop effective partnerships in order to gain experience from previous programmes and effeciently target areas of agricultural production that elicit poverty reduction. |
