Description: Stanslaus Njovu, a farmer of Gichameda village,Tanzania, works on his farm to grow maize with the help of an irrigation system, Tanzania. Mr. Njovu, sold his rice stores through the Magugu warehouse on a receipt system which enabled him to maximize his profits. He has managed to build a house and also pay for his children’s education through his raised income.

Since it was created in 1977, IFAD has focused exclusively on rural poverty reduction by working with poor rural populations in developing countries to eliminate poverty, hunger, and malnutrition. The First Mile Project in Tanzania is a continuation of IFAD's project initiatives in the East African region.
