Preserving local seed strains is a vital aspect of the project. In El–Ferech, 17 km from Tataouine, the agricultural development group (GDA) - one of the local implementing partners of the project - helped to form a local farmers cooperative. The project has provided seeds and technical assistance. The farmers must give back a portion of the seeds which will then be sold by the cooperative to finance its activities. |
