Members of the Women’s Cooperative, headed by Asebe Danjuma, Chairperson, Tuduu Wada South Rice Processors, Kontagora - expressing their joy at the transformation IFAD/VCDP-supported intervention has brought into their lives. The women process paddy bought from VCDP-supported farmers using the false-bottom technology to process, package and market quality par-boiled rice. The processing center is quickly expanding to try to keep up with demand. In addition to benefiting from increased incomes to sustain their families, the 15+ cooperative members have used their profits to build additional milling houses, generators and processing machines. Asebe, when asked about the future of the cooperative, proudly spoke of the power of women and said that “the sky is the limit, sustainability of this project is already guaranteed” in terms of their dreams for growing the processing center even more.
