A portrait of Joseph Kariaa, 25, a second-year student pursuing a diploma in Craft and Plumbing at Mukurwe-ini Technical Training Institute, in Nyeri county, Kenya. “The roof water harvesting project has created temporary employment for some of the students to supplement our school fees. I am at example of that. Now we are able to earn some money, by taking care of the school farm, where we can water it during the dry season from the water harvested. I hope one day I can replicate this technology at home in Meru (Chuka County), so that my family can cultivate throughout all seasons because of constant supply of water.”
