One of several solar power regulators installed along the 60km long electric fence to regulate the amount of electric current that is carried on to the fence in Chogoria village, in Tharaka-Nithi County, Kenya. The lives of the communities living alongside the National Park changed when the government of Kenya and IFAD, through the Upper Tana Natural Resources Management Project (UTaNRMP), funded a project to construct a solar powered 60km long electric fence to prevent human-animal conflict. The communities are now a lot more food secure as they continue to farm at will without worries of animal-especially elephant-invasion.
