Earlier we used to send our produce from the fileds to Haldwani which added the cost us transport and comission to the middle men , since joining the group i can save those costs increasing the money i take home.” Nandan Singh, 50 . Farmer and father to 3 daughters and one son. “ I grow fruit like apricots, peaches and vegetables like green peas, tomatoes, green capsicum. Since becoming a part of the group now I sell our produce directly from home . Earlier i had no idea what rate the produce was selling for , i would just get the money from the middleman. Here i am part of the process and its added to my income from before. We even get cheaper seeds from the cooperative” |
