The goal of the project was to build self-reliant coastal communities, resilient to shocks, and able to manage their livelihood base in a sustainable manner. This would be achieved via the development objective of developing viable enterprises and resource management systems, owned and operated by poor men and women in the region affected by the tsunami, and supported by community and other appropriate institutions.
