Rome, 26 July 2021 – IFAD President, Gilbert Houngbo, arrives at the venue for the UN Food Systems Pre-Summit which takes place in Rome at FAO HQ with the participation of Members States, Civil Society, NGOs, Academia, UN Agencies and other representatives. IFAD, together with the other RBAs is a key partner of the UN FSS Secretariat, supporting the organization of the pre-Summit and Summit. Throughout the whole process, IFAD has demonstrated strong support to the FSS Secretariat, Special Envoy and DSG. In particular IFAD has contributed to ensure that the voices of small-scale rural poor farmers are prominent in the FSS process. The Fund has also underpinned the importance of consultation with Member States and other organizations both for buy-in and to ensure the success and effective follow-up to the Summit. |
