Title: | Senegal - Agricultural Value Chains Resilience Support Project (PARFA) - July 2021 |
Description: |
In Toubacouta, apiculture is a branch of agriculture that can help people from rural and remote villages to diversify their activities and generate incomes. Honeybees are also involved in the pollination process in agriculture and a good indicator of environmental degradation. Beekeepers organizations were using modern beekeeping equipment like modern beehives, smokers, honey extractors and more. The use of chemical products in the beekeeping activity is limited to disinfection of equipment. The aim of PARFA is to sustainably improve the food security and income of small-scale producers – including both farmers and herders – and create remunerative, sustainable jobs in rural communities. It focuses on expanding the access of smallholders and their organizations to effective services and production infrastructure, appropriate technologies and markets. |
