Burundi - Value Chain Development Programme Phase II - April 2021
Description:
Estella Cimpaye (30 year old) is a participant in the IFAD-supported Value Chain Development Programme (PRODEFI II). She is a hill dweller from the village of Jimbi, which is a part of the Muhanga commune in Burundi’s Kayanza province. PRODEFI II aims to increase rural households' resilience to climate change, intensify crops and livestock production to improve nutrition and food security. It is also working to improve the processing and the marketing of their products through structured milk and rice value chains. Estella is just one of the many rural people who have benefitted from newly created job opportunities through the project’s development works in the Ruvubu marshlands.
