Title: Honduras - Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF): AGRIdigitalización – November 2021
Description: Ana Maribel Arriaga is a 40-year-old entrepreneur who makes handicrafts in her home which she then sells. She is a member of the “Buscando Prosperidad” rural savings bank in Yamaranguila, Intibucá, western Honduras. As a member, she is able to access loans at a lower rate and shares: “We would apply for a loan to buy the threads and other materials. Then, with the money we earned from the sales, we would pay back the loans and apply for new ones.”

Through the RPSF, the bank took part in a digitalization campaign. The bank’s members share that through this campaign the service has become more efficient and transparent. Ana says that being a member of the bank has changed her life, allowing her to build a home far better than the one she used to live in.

The RPSF is a short-term strategy that feeds into IFAD’s longer-term development objectives. It aims to improve the food security and resilience of poor rural people by supporting production, market access and employment and to accelerate their recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.
