Ana Maribel Arriaga is a 40-year-old entrepreneur and member of the “Buscando Prosperidad” rural savings bank in Yamaranguila, Intibucá, western Honduras. “Before, we had no idea how to apply for or manage a loan.” Ana shares. “The seminars at the rural savings bank have been a good experience. They offered us training on how to maintain a loan, how to use the resources.” She goes on to say “The benefit is that we can now start saving what is left (of our earnings) at the end. We also have to learn how to save.” Through the RPSF, the bank took part in a digitalization campaign. The bank’s members share that through this campaign the service has become more efficient and transparent. The RPSF is a short-term strategy that feeds into IFAD’s longer-term development objectives. It aims to improve the food security and resilience of poor rural people by supporting production, market access and employment and to accelerate their recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. |
