Iris Maribel Alberto Laínez, 27 years old, is the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Association for Agricultural Marketing and Production "El Limón”, LLC (ACOELI de R.L.). Along with the president of the Cooperative, she is in charge of supervising the implementation of appropriate procedures in the agricultural projects and other activities carried out by the cooperative. As well as being the Secretary of the Board of Directors of ACOELI, she is a mother of 10-year-old twins. While the children are in school, she works in the fields of the Cooperative or in the hydroponic greenhouses. She also has a small plot of land at home where she grows vegetables for her family. Iris shares: “As a result of joining the cooperative, our income changed. First, we guaranteed the food security of our family by eating a product that is healthy, fresh, and that we know is grown here. It’s grown right here.” |
