Antonio Cordón work for Agros International and oversees the agri-digitalization project (supported through the RPSF) and other financial services offered by Agros. He has been providing support to the small producers and rural banks involved in the digitalisation campaign. He says that “the digitalization of the financial services we offer small producers has allowed us to have a record, a financial record for each of them. It allows us to see their financial evolution and, over time, will allow us to provide better financial services – with more favourable conditions, lower credit rates, larger amounts, longer payment periods.”. He goes on to share “We are reaching poor, rural populations in marginalized communities that would lack access to credit if it weren’t for the services we provide.” The RPSF is a short-term strategy that feeds into IFAD’s longer-term development objectives. It aims to improve the food security and resilience of poor rural people by supporting production, market access and employment and to accelerate their recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. |
