Rajamma lives with her husband, Subramaniam, and their children. One of the main sources of income for the family is the production of compost for which they use grass they collect. However, due to climate change and less frequent rainfalls, grass has become a rare commodity over the years. This has resulted in the need for the family to travel further to get the grass needed. The Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme (SAPP) aims to raise incomes and improve the quality of diet of over 57,000 smallholder households in Sri Lanka. The program provides a platform for smallholder farmers to access financing and business training, while also helping them to form partnerships with each other and the private sector. |
