Rajamma is a farmer who lives with her husband, Subramaniam, and their children. She used to work in a garment factory, but then started working on the family farm. The primary source of income for the family is through dairy products made from the cattle’s milk and the production of compost. However, they also grow herbs and spices, coconut and jackfruit. With the training in financing and business received through the Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme, Rajamma plans to set aside enough income to one day be able to purchase a vehicle for her family which will allow them to save traveling time and with the transportation of their goods. Through the Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme, Rajamma has access to financing and business training. Rajamma has also learned to keep income and expense records in a book provided by the programme. This has helped them manage and minimise costs. |
