Title: | Nepal – Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF) – March 2022 |
Description: |
Farmers waiting to sell the milk to the Chappiya milk collection centre in Rupandehi. Farmers in the area can sell milk at this centre from 6:30 to 9 AM and then from 5 to 6 PM. Milk collected here is sold through the store and also at bigger markets in Bhairahawa and Butwal. In Nepal, RPSF funds supported laying the foundation for scaling-up the upcoming VITA project. The project will develop and test an application with services such as: an e-wallet for payments and remittance transfers; automated loan processing; connection of merchants to offer credit for future outputs; virtual collection centres; price/quantity/quality/service provider information; connection of buyers and sellers of inputs and produce; training material and links to YouTube videos; GIS tools for local government. To facilitate the above, the project will support local banks in the expansion of their digital services and establish cash-out points for e-wallets using agents rather than ATMs (more cost-effective). |
