Hédi Mahdahaoui runs a small café along the road from Medenine to Ksar Ghilane, an archeological site, oasis, and entry point to the Tunisian Sahara. Hédi received support from PRODEFIL under an aspect of the project designed to promote youth entrepreneurship. With solar power and water upgrades, Café Loutid is more attractive to tourists and generating higher revenues for the whole community. With more space, Hédi is able to host a small shop where locals can sell handicrafts. He hopes to develop the site further. “We are thinking about making tents from palm leaves because there are a lot of people who would like to camp here and eat.” |
