Title: Peru - Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF): AGRIdigitalización – August 2022
Description: In the context of the crisis unleashed by the pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine, the prices of several local consumer products increased significantly and affected the economy of small farmers' families. Among the most needed products are corn, which is widely used to feed the animals on the farms; plantains, which are used in almost all home-cooked meals in the area; and staple foods such as oil, rice and eggs.

According to the latest report of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) released in August 2022, the year-on-year inflation for food at home was 12.7%, with the clearest example being oil, which rose in price by more than 43% between January 2021 and March 2022 alone, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

The AGRIdigitalization project is an IFAD initiative aimed at strengthening farmers’ organizations. It had a business intervention model which included training services, webpage updating, documents and videos translation, and positioning of products on digital platforms outside of traditional commerce. The purpose was to develop and strengthen a support model for organizations to access new markets through e-commerce.
