Andhika Putra Perdana who lives with his maternal grandmother, dreams of working either in Australia or Japan to acquire the necessary knowledge and technical skills to be implemented in the cattle industry in his home province of West Java.
The 20-year-old who is taking part in a three-month internship at Brahman Sejahtera Cooperative in Subang Regency, as part of the YESS project, has learned how to vaccinate, feed and sanitise the pen of the cows and sheep, as well as how to take care of the health of the cattle.
One day, he hopes to be able to share the lessons learned while abroad so more people in his home town can become more knowledgeable of the field. He also wants to improve his family's financial situation.
YESS aims to create opportunities for rural youths to build their livelihoods through rural entrepreneurship or employment. It seeks to develop a new generation of young farmers and agripreneurs while contributing to sustainable rural transformation through people-oriented investment.
