Title: Jordan - Rural Economic Growth and Employment Project (REGEP) – March 2023
Description: Wedad Obaidat is from the Al Rafed region in Irbid city. As well as taking part in the Farmer Field School (FFS) activities for one year, through which she learned to find the best and healthier ways to farm, she received a grant from the project to produce thyme in greenhouses.

"However, I love farming and used to farm for a long time but the new knowledge from the (FFS) helped me tremendously to grow my business bigger and go for organic farming. I believe we have to grow everything organic. It is healthy for us and for the planet, In Jordan, we have a water scarcity problem and that's why we need innovative ways of farming to save water and grow the best and most suitable crops."

The Rural Economic Growth and Employment Project (REGEP) focuses on rural areas of the Governorates of Ajloun, Jerash, Balqa, Madaba and Mafraq.

In line with the Government's Poverty Reduction Strategy 2013-2020, the project targets rural households below the poverty line, and vulnerable rural households above the poverty who are at high risk of falling into poverty.

The project's goal is the reduction of poverty, vulnerability and inequality in rural areas through the creation of productive employment and income-generating opportunities for the rural poor and vulnerable, especially youth and women.
