Jamelah Abu Melhem, 59 years from Qasaba region in Jerash governorate, She is one of the beneficiaries from REGEP project, where she received an individual grant to develop her project for food processing. she named it "Mounah Jerasheya" Jamila participates in different local bazaars, exhibitions and markets to sell her products. " in 2017, I was offered to participate in a training which can qualify me to win a grant later, I won the grant and started my project, I had no idea about marketing for my products and I was very embarrassed to do that but I learnt and developed all my products, now I have a brand " Mounah Jerasheya" and I sell my products online through a Facebook page, I have now 5 freezers full of products because of the amount orders I received" Jamelah says Rural Economic Growth and Employment Project (REGEP) focus on rural areas of the Governorates of Ajloun, Jerash, Balqa, Madaba and Mafraq. In line with the Government's Poverty Reduction Strategy 2013-2020, the project targets rural households below the poverty line, and vulnerable rural households above the poverty who are at high risk of falling into poverty. The project's goal is the reduction of poverty, vulnerability and inequality in rural areas by creating productive employment and income-generating opportunities for the rural poor and vulnerable, especially youth and women. While the project total cost is 39.17 million US$, IFAD is financing 24.54 million US$ |
