Vasta Bira is an 18-year-old who left school after primary 5. Fifth child out of nine, she has always been passionate about hairdressing. She learned about the trainings being offered at the Bumangi Community Polytechnic and was able to enrol in the hairdressing course. Now that Vasta has completed her training, she has started working in a hair salon where she earns a commission on what the clients pay. With the money she makes, she is able to support herself and her mother. The main objective of NOPP is to support inclusive rural transformation through investments in the oil palm industry that improve rural livelihoods while safeguarding the environment. The project also supports people with alternative income generation. |
