Uganda – National Oil Palm Project (NOPP) – September 2023
Frank Sseguya is 21-year-old brick layer. He used to be unemployed and struggled to find a job. He was able to attend the Bumangi Community Polytechnic where he trained in brick laying and construction.
As a result, he was able to find employment in a construction company. While he has completed his training, he still learns as he works.
Frank, who lives on his own and has seven brothers and sisters, is able to send money home and use the rest of his income to support himself and invest in an alternative source of income, piggery.
In the future, he would would like to build a permanent home for his family and continue learning in order to earn more qualifications.
The main objective of NOPP is to support inclusive rural transformation through investments in the oil palm industry that improve rural livelihoods while safeguarding the environment. The project also supports people with alternative income generation.
