Grazing and guiding. Verónica Calle Chuquichambi, 23, is a woman of many facets. She takes care of her three-year-old son and sells food in Caracollo when she is not in Chojñacota. She grazes her llamas in the wilds of Chojñacota when she is not in Caracollo. She guides and listens to the people who talk to her in search of a solution. But she is also aware that these are finite stages, as well as those of her llamas that have a determined productive and vital cycle; her position as leader will end at the beginning of 2024. "On January 1st I'm going to take everything off," she says, apparently half metaphorically speaking and half reality, when referring to her communal authority attire. Verónica is one of the beneficiaries of the construction of a shed for her animals through the Pro-Camelids program, financed by IFAD. One of the components of this program consists of strengthening the families of economic/productive organizations to create conditions that encourage private investments, improving their transformation processes for the creation of added value and facilitating competitive access to markets. This component includes the subcomponents of market development, business plans and knowledge management in processing and marketing. |
