Khadija is a 44-year-old mother to a 16-year-old girl. She was one of the women hired by Komiljanov to work on his family farm. Komilijanov received funding which allowed him to set-up his family’s agricultural enterprise with greenhouses. The favourable employment conditions suited Khadiji’s life as a mother. The greenhouse farm's proximity to her home in Qayqi Village, makes it convenient for her to balance her family responsibilities. The Agriculture Diversification and Modernization Project (ADMP)’s goal is to improve the incomes and livelihoods of rural people by increasing the inclusivity and profitability of selected value chains. Through enhanced productivity and market access as well as improved natural resource management, the project promotes a demand-driven approach focused on analyzing each step of the value chain and investing in the needs that have the potential to improve the productivity, profitability and competitiveness of value chain players, especially Dekhan farmers. Project activities are concentrated in the Fergana Valley. |
