Title: Bolivia - Integral Strengthening Programme for the Camelid Value Chain in the Bolivian High Plateau (Pro-Camélidos) - October 2023
Description: Reynaldo Bedoya's relationship with animals is very close. In this photo, he is with a woolly llama in the Cosapa community in the Turco municipality of Oruro in Bolivia. "I have always been in the field, alongside my llamas and alpacas," he proudly says. As part of his long-term vision, Reynaldo highlights the creation of the Association of Camelid Producers, with the aim of making it a tourist reference that promotes sustainable breeding of these animals. He emphasizes the need to manage water properly and highlights the importance of animal health. Through the association, they seek support from financial and governmental entities to implement projects that benefit both livestock farmers and animals, with a special focus on protection against the elements and the improvement of infrastructure for shearing. In this region, there were 26 beneficiaries with the construction of eight sheds financed by FIDA and executed by Pro-Camélidos.

The project has provided more than 10,000 infrastructures in Bolivia, which provide housing and animal pens for their herds and storage for forage as well as access to clean running water.
