Title: Bolivia - Integral Strengthening Programme for the Camelid Value Chain in the Bolivian High Plateau (Pro-Camélidos) - October 2023
Description: All her life, until now when she is 23 years old, Verónica Calle Chuquichambi was surrounded by llamas, alpacas and also, to a lesser extent, sheep. Today, having been a native authority for one year, she understands the importance of these animals for the family and community economy. In some cases, the llamas and alpacas will be sold "standing" and alive; in others, they will first be sheared to take advantage of their fiber for future clothing and then they will be slaughtered so that the community members and, at the same time, owners of these animals, can consume their product and also sell it. This is how things work in places like Chojñacota, a community of the Aparu ayllu belonging to the municipality of San Pedro de Totora in Oruro, Bolivia.
