Title: Bolivia - Integral Strengthening Programme for the Camelid Value Chain in the Bolivian High Plateau (Pro-Camélidos) - October 2023
Description: Verónica Calle Chuquichambi's life is marked by two realities. When she is not in Caracollo, with her husband, who is a bricklayer, and her almost three-year-old son, she is at her family's home in the community of Chojñacota, in the Oruro municipality of San Pedro de Totora, in the Andean region of Bolivia. In the first place, a village next to the highway that connects the cities of La Paz and Oruro, she sells food from very early in the morning. In the second, she is, at least for this year, a native authority; and, therefore, she must be dressed according to that position when there are important events. "There is a symbolism when they put you in authority. And they tell me 'you have to dress like an authority'". That is why she wears a thin aguayo (a multicolored fabric that can be used to carry things on her back) in which green stands out, a green skirt and a hat made of sheep fiber with the inscription on a green ribbon: Totora Marka (Totora Place).

The community to which it belongs is one of the beneficiaries of the Pro-Camelids program, financed by IFAD. One of the most important projects was the construction of sheds to protect the community's llamas and alpacas from the cold and other animals that often attack them, such as foxes and pumas.
