Title: | Bolivia - Integral Strengthening Programme for the Camelid Value Chain in the Bolivian High Plateau (Pro-Camélidos) - October 2023 |
Description: |
The Chojñacota community members enjoy the water extracted through a groundwater pumping system using energy generated by solar panels. This is a project promoted by Pro-Camélidos and financed by IFAD. As in the case of Chojñacota, which belongs to the municipality of San Pedro de Totora, another 46 municipalities in Bolivia's Altiplano region are benefiting from this type of project and also from the construction of sheds for the care of camelid livestock, mainly llamas and alpacas. Pro-Camelidos is implementing a long-term strategy focused on the sustainability of associative initiatives, aimed at improving market access and strengthening organization. This tactic is based on actions aimed at increasing income, reducing food insecurity, improving natural resource management, improving the livelihoods of the most vulnerable populations, and facilitating access to water and productive infrastructure. |
